Free movie rental tips for Canadians
66In this hub I am offering some advice for Canadian users of the Zip.ca online movie rental service on how to potentially receive some free movie rentals every month with just a few clicks of the mouse, as well as giving non Zip members a way to possibly try the service free for an entireĀ month instead of just the standard two week free trial period.available to the general Canadian public.
My intention with this hub is to offer up a helpful tip to any users of the Zip.ca service for online movie rental Canada wide. I welcome all non-Canadians to read through this hub for the chance that it might help them with any online dvd rental service that they might be using, regardless of whether or not it is an unlimited dvd rental plan or a limited rental plan - that part does not matter with regards to my suggestion. In Canada, many people are customers of an online movie rental service known as zip.ca, one of the largest online rental service providers in Canada but i believe one that is not available south of the 49th Parallel. However, I would not be at all surprised to hear that some of the major US online rental companies such as Netflex movies offer their own member incentive program too. I just am not familiar with them is all.
Zip.ca has a members incentive program that awardfs members points for regular and frequent activity on the Zip home site. These points can be redeemed for things like free priority movie rentals (called"gotta have it" film rentals), extra free rentals for those who have chosen the plans with fixed rental allowances per each month, a free additional rental slot for those who are the unlimited rentals plan ( so if you are on the 2-disc unlimited plan which lets you have two movies out at one time, you can upgrade it to the three disc plan for free for a period of one month), and even a free month of movie rentals (kind of like giving yourself a gift subscription for a month). Admittedly, these rewards require that you do things on the site and take a little effort to achieve, but some of them are actually quite easy to get enough points for on a regular basis.
Here is the thing, I really believe that many Zip.ca member subscribers do not realize just how easy it is to get these points; I suspect that most members just go on the site to make up their list of movies that they want to be sent and thats it. Sure they go back once in a while to add movies to their lists but that is about it as far as involvment or particiaption in the site goes for them. what these people are missing is the fact that Zip rewards you for doing any of the following things on the site (and most are just point-and-click kinds of things):
- let them know when you receive a new movie in the mail
- let them know when you have mailed a movie back in the postage paid return envelope
- rate a zip rental movie you have watched
- for writing a review of any movie in their library of films
- for rating any review written by another member
- for any dvd purchases you make on the site
- for refering any movies to a friend
- for refering any friends to Zip through their referral system
In addition, you also receieve points each month just for being a paid member. It doesn't get anty easier than that!
Just to give you an example of how easy it is to accumulate these Zip rewards points, I use to be on the 3-disc unlimited plan, but after realizing that I could probably save up enough points each month to add a free rental slot to my existing plan, I downgraded to the 2-disc unlimited plan and just get a free rental slot each month, effectively upgrading me to the 3-disc unlimited dvd rentals plan on a monthly basis for the price of the cheaper 2-disc plan. there you go, A way to save money on your rental plan every month.
The other thing I mentioned at the start was the offer to give you away to get a free one month trial of Zip instead of the standard two week trial that they usually offer prospective new members. From time to time, Zip sends out limited time promo codes to current members. These codes can be used by non-members to recieve a free one month trial period instead of a two week trial period. They send these out to current members in the hopes that they will pass the codes on to their friends who will in turn maybe try out the service and maybe stay on as paying members after the free trialmonth has expired. Smart marketing really.
Anyway, what I am willing to do is email the latest codes that I get from zip to anyone who is interested. All you have to do is message me here with an email address and a first name so that i can send you an email from zip with both the promo code and a link to the sign up page with a space to enter the code. Simple.
I figure that giving someone a month of free dvd rentals by mail instead of only two weeks gives you a better idea of whether or not a regular membership would be worth your while, don't you?

Hi Shaydov,
First- THANKS for all the cool tips I never would have realized lead to extra free movies! This website is a SpiritSend! (As opposed to Godsend for those that would be offended when they see this publicly. ;-)
I'd like that free month promotional code for zip.ca, if you don't mind. We don't have much up in remote SK for our fancy HD TV without paying about $600 to BUY a fancy satellite receiver and dish. *sigh* So it's time to get back into online for favorte TV and movies, which I loved in California.
Thanks again for your time!
